Merrimack County Savings Bank had its charter approved in July 1867. Starting with a small office space on School Street in Concord, through growth and expansions and acquisitions, the bank has grown to 8 branches and $600 million in assets. Shannon is a first-grade teacher at Underhill School. She has been a teacher in the Hooksett School District since 2001 and has excelled in teaching kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. Shannon’s “can-do” spirit has served her well as an educator and as a member of the school community, including being an instrumental part of leading major initiatives across the school and district through her work on committees such as the SAU’s Report Card, Science Pilot, Science Curriculum, and Schoolwide Events Committees.

District Governor Dan Bennett Visit - 02/08/2018

We had a great time during District Governor Dan Bennett's visit at the fabulous The Derryfield Restaurant which was nicely decked out, thanks to the creative planning and decorating skills of Judy Barrett with her supportive partner Matthew Barrett. The evening was memorable not only for the esteemed dignitaries in attendance, including the current Governor and two former governors, the current Lt. Governor and as many as nine former Lt. Governors, as well as the current Governor for the Key Clubs, but also for the general atmosphere of collegiality and unity. Mark Blasco - CEO Owner of Chucksters - Guest Speaker at Jan. 17 Meeting - 01/17/2018

Mark Blasco was the featured speaker for our January 16th meeting.  He is the CEO and owner of several miniature golf courses called Chucksters, including the one which he most recently developed and opened here in Hooksett. Besides his miniature golf endeavors, he managed the Gunstock and Waterville Valley Ski Resorts,  and started Shirtmasters – a Custom Apparel Business. When asked by the audience what he considered to be the particular selling feature of Chucksters, he indicated that, unlike other sports venues, miniature golf is accessible to everyone, not just to athletes.

The Hooksett Library hosted the annual new members orientation with the charming Gayla Bartlett and Kay Maurice from the Danvers Kiwanis Club as our special guests.  Gayla delivered a dynamic presentation on the subject of  "Content that the Media will Love". An integral part of her presentation included a break-out session during which small groups drafted a sample press release, featuring an impactful story about the local Kiwanis club.  Frank Kotowski rounded out the morning's training session with a fascinating history of Kiwanis as well as the many and varied ways in which members can get involved in Hooksett Kiwanis. 


Judy Barrett receives The Gift of Kiwanis Award - 01/04/2018

Thanks to Judy's phenomenal work as advisor to the Builders and Key Clubs, programs and membership are flourishing. She is also the recent recipient of the well-deserved Outstanding Lt. Governor Award for her outstanding tenure as Lt. Governor in 2017. She's always to be found volunteering for Kiwanis events and initiatives and is already off to a record start as this year's (2017-18) Builders Club Administrator. She inspires commitment, hard work, and enthusiasm for all that she does both personally and professionally. She's a model Kiwanian and is assuredly well-deserving of this "Gift of Kiwanis Award".

Hooksett, NH - The Hooksett Kiwanis Foundation announces its 2017 Community Leaders Awards program. Last year’s event was a huge success in that it provided much public recognition for many deserving individuals. The 2017 event, to be held at the Dining center at Southern NH University on April 3, 2018, promises to be even better. There will be seven award categories this year:

Volunteer NH honors Hooksett individuals and organizations

 

Volunteer NH is a statewide nonprofit organization that annually recognizes the spirit of volunteerism in NH by hosting the “Spirit of NH Awards”. This year’s celebration was held on November 7 at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord NH. Winners are selected by a select Volunteer NH committee from the nominations received. Three local individuals and organizations received very special awards.

Scouting for Food drive collects over 3,000 items - 11/22/2017

Each year the Scouting Community in Hooksett comes together for the annual Scouting for Food drive. After leaving tags at residences throughout Hooksett, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, along with adult volunteers canvass all of Hooksett picking up donated food.  Donated food is delivered to the Hooksett Community Food Pantry at the Hooksett Town offices, where it is sorted and placed on Pantry shelves by pantry volunteers. This year’s drive resulted in 3,568 food items that will be provided to Hooksett Families. The Hooksett Community Food pantry is sponsored by and is a community project of Hooksett Kiwanis.
